Chat with me http://beyondblonderocks.com/chatroom.cfm Sun, 13 May 2012 03:31:06 GMT http://bandzoogle.com The XFactor http://beyondblonderocks.com/chatroom.cfm?feature=2461613&postid=2073384 Where to begin...Wednesday, May 9th, it's pouring.&nbsp; We get up at 3 am so that we can get ready and catch a 4:30 am bus to Providence.&nbsp; We arrive a little before 6 am and stand in the rain with 5,000 other people for over 7 hours before getting inside to hand in a release form, present ID's and get our seat ticket and wrist band for Thursday.&nbsp; Yup...that's all that happened that day.&nbsp;&nbsp;Needless to say that by the time we got home we looked like drowned rag dolls and our bones ached.&nbsp;&nbsp;The day did not end badly as before heading home on the bus again, we all went out to grab a bite and a much needed brewsky.&nbsp; So Thursday rolls around and we're up at 3 am again to catch the bus.&nbsp; Not as long in the rain today (5 hours).&nbsp; Once inside, we're all seated and wait another few hours (a lot of waiting) until the auditions begin.&nbsp; If you've been to the Dunkin Donut Center we were all seated and they had about 20 booths (curtain type booths) set up on the floor.&nbsp; They would call down groups and you would go into one of these booths for your audition.&nbsp; I finally get to my booth, walk in and am presented with a judge that has an absolutely stone faced look.&nbsp; I'm like &quot;great&quot;.&nbsp; I did my thang and got cheers from the audience in the stands and got my &quot;golden ticket&quot; from the judge!&nbsp; What a thrill.&nbsp; I was shaking like a leaf.&nbsp; I have to say that singing in front of one person with no expression whatsoever, accapella has to be the worst!&nbsp; But I managed to get another audition out of it for Friday.&nbsp; Again, I arrive at 6 am - this time my husband drove me so no bus (have you riden a bus lately? Ugh)....anyway.&nbsp; Didn't wait to long to get in and by 9 am they started the second round of auditions.&nbsp; I'm in the Over 25 Category (used to be over 30) and I'm #5 to audition.&nbsp; 3 judges this time.&nbsp; A young kid, a brit and some cool looking brother all staring with no expressions....I'm like what is it with these people??? lol&nbsp; I did my best but didn't make it the next round.&nbsp; Am I sad?&nbsp; Not really.&nbsp; It was an excellent experience.&nbsp; In my opinion, they were looking for the next Lady Gaga or Rhianna....why do I say that?&nbsp; Well, they said it.&nbsp; I'm sitting in the stand going - &quot;so why am I here?&quot;&nbsp;&nbsp; I've got really cool stuff going on right now but going through the experience with XFactor was just fine with me and I'm all set.&nbsp; Will probably not do it again next year...Maybe the VOICE?&nbsp; Who knows.&nbsp; Never know what's behind a closed door until you open it.&nbsp; Met some really cool people and had a blast all in all.&nbsp; Hope you enjoyed my blog.&nbsp; Have an awesome and musical day/night! I am so excited to be gearing up for the next CD.  Especially after winning Album of The Year with "Showing My Roots".  We've got 10 new songs that we've all been working on to fine tune, tighten up and make the best we can before going into the studio.

They take the top 7 emails they recieved with the most nominations for a category.&nbsp; Album of The Year - for instance - Once that is done, the voting begins.&nbsp; That's a big process...7 Albums nominated; lots of nominations for more than that I'm certain then the votes start pouring&nbsp;in&nbsp;that determine the winner.&nbsp; I wasn't aware of how it all worked but we must have had a lot of nominations and a crap load of votes because WE WON ALBUM OF THE YEAR!!!!&nbsp; I am so proud of my band, my husband (engineer/producer) for all their hard work and devotion and to all of you who nominated the album and voted! We also send a shout out to all the winners from last nights Limelight Music Awards! Congratulations!&nbsp; It's truly amazing after 35 years of being in this business and being nominated for Best Vocalist a few times and Band of the Year a few times throughout and never winning, to winning Album of The Year. Would have been great to win the other nominations but this means so much more. It was the entire group that won.&nbsp; Just goes to show me that going back to my roots with my original music payed off and was the right decision to make. ]]> Sun, 11 Mar 2012 19:50:00 GMT 23DA34562228F4E03B1ED1A1DD3E9983 Starting a new year http://beyondblonderocks.com/chatroom.cfm?feature=2461613&postid=1671082 2011 was amazing for me musically.&nbsp; The decision to stop doing clubs and cover music was a bitter sweet separation.&nbsp; Do I miss it?&nbsp; Sometimes, but I have had opportunities to sit in with RI Rocks, Full Circle, open jams&nbsp;at parties that 5 Flavor Discount has put on and hanging out with musician friends at parties just jammin'. Focusing on my original material last year was the right decision for me.&nbsp; Kuddos to all my great players (Donna Compos, Mick Coste, Mike Kaz, Gary Ross and Mike Markovich).&nbsp; The new CD &quot;Showing My Roots&quot; was a plus and I'm ready to record all new material in 2012.&nbsp; A very special thanks to all of you that supported my decision and supported me and the band throughout the 2011 year.&nbsp; I received so many comments on how my songs affected your lives in one way or another and seeing you sing along at a show touches my soul deeper than words can ever express.&nbsp; You made me feel&nbsp;like a STAR!&nbsp; Happy New Year and may 2012 be great to you.&nbsp; Hope to see you all soon. You can get all the details by going to the <a href="./shows.cfm">SHOWS page.&nbsp; Very excited about this show so hope you can make it.&nbsp; Donna Compos, my original drummer, will be at this show after a 3 yr. stent away from playing while undergoing cancer treatment.&nbsp; Also on stage will be Mike Kaz on Bass Guitar,&nbsp; who's been with me for about 3 years now and Gary Ross on Lead Guitar and Keyboard.&nbsp; Gary recently hopped on board and you can hear his incredible talent at the gig and on the latest CD &quot;Showing My Roots&quot;.&nbsp; We have a couple more shows this month so check it out.&nbsp; Will have one more in October and hope to book more for the year but if not.....KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR US NEXT YEAR!!! Still mixing away on the CD.  Had a set back for about a week.  My engineer/producer/husband was sick :(  Feeling much better now :) Writing new songs and have 10 brandy new songs that I hope to put on THE NAKED TRUTH CD with just guitars and vocals.  Will keep you posted on all.  Thanks so much for the continued support and I really, really hope you like the new sound and songs.  Have a musical day!
